High investments in registrations
Cheminova is investing three-digit millions in the registration of new products.
With the launch of three new products a year, Cheminova expects to have to make considerable investments both in obtaining the necessary registrations of the new products and in prolonging registrations of the old plant protection products.
– We expect approx. one third of this major investment to be spent on defending and further developing our existing products, while two thirds of the investment have been reserved for the comprehensive registration of new products. The investment is necessary to ensure Cheminova’s strong position until 2010 in a very competitive market, says Bjørn Albinus.

The registration department handles registrations for a number of new products, while at
the same time looking after registrations of the old plant protection products. New products
account for two thirds of the department’s time, while the old products account for a third.
The registration of the new products in the EU is particularly time-consuming.
More employees
The registration department currently has a staff of seventeen academics and four other employees at the Danish office. During the plan period, this number will increase to 28 academics and eight office workers. Furthermore, the subsidiaries will also have to take on more employees in their respective registration departments.
- The registration department will be facing many interesting professional challenges in the coming years. The registration of the new products in the EU is a time-consuming process, and owing to the number of new products in our portfolio, registration will require strict coordination of our efforts so that the necessary registrations are in place at the time of launch of the new products, says Bjørn Albinus about this core competence.
